Jobs they had in Pompeii are similar in many ways to the jobs that we have now. There were:
Merchants - A business person who trades in commodities produced by others, in order to earn a profit.
Bakers - Prepare dough for pies, different types of bread and roll other sweet goods, and prepare batters for different types of muffins, cookies and cakes for sale in retail food establishments.

Fisherman - Someone who captures fish and other animals from a body of water, or gathers shellfish.
Barbers - A hairdresser specially for men
Slave-dealers - A person who is engaged in slave trade
Inn-keepers - A person who runs an Inn
Today we have all of these jobs and more. These jobs would've been harder because they didn't have the technology that we do nowadays. Here are some similarities and differences about some of the jobs.
The baking that the baker would make would taste very different to baking nowadays. They would've had different ingredients to use for the baking.
The hairstyles that the Barber did would've been quite different as what was in fashion then will be different to what is in fashion now.
The fish that the fisherman caught would've been different because there would've been different fish around then.
The evidence to support this material is that archaeologists have recovered tools that have been used for these jobs, and some bodies have been buried in their workplaces.
These examples show the similarities and differences about jobs in ancient Pompeii and jobs now.
