On the 24 August 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius erupted. It was one of the deadliest eruptions ever. The eruption lasted 24 hours. It covered the region in volcanic ash 16 feet deep and buried the city alive.
At 8:00 am, earth tremors start to shake the ground. Tremors were a frequent reoccurrence in Pompeii so this raised no alarm. Animals tried to alert the residents of Pompeii acting up. However, they were very ignorant to this and thought it was just a normal day.

At 11:00am, there were some small explosions from Mount Vesuvius. These explosions were visible for all to see but many didn't see them. Earth tremors got bigger and bigger, starting to shake roof tiles.
At 3:00pm, the weight of the ash and pumice in the cloud becomes too heavy. It drops down onto the city and starts to cover buildings. Residents of Pompeii finally realise that the volcano is erupting and flee their homes and workplaces. Earth tremors continue.
At 5:00pm, buildings start to catch fire. Ash and Pumice continues to rain down onto the city. The rain gets too heavy and starts to break through roofs.
At 8:00pm, the city is practically covered in pumice and ash. However, Vesuvius isn't finished yet. There is still a cloud of ash floating in the sky.
At 1:00am, 25 August 79 AD, there is a small orange glow in the sky. The city is completely covered in pumice and ash. There has been no survivors. Earth tremors continue.
At 6:00am, ash and pumice continues to cover the city. Tips of buildings can be seen under the rubble.
At 9:00pm, Mount Vesuvius becomes a crater. The city has been buried alive. Ash and Pumice has buried the city. The rivers, lakes and the ports are gone. The city is now forgotten.
